Market Intelligence for Innovation and Product Life-Cycle Management in three large companies have been presented and discussed in the GIA White Paper 4/2008. The case descriptions are based on interviews with intelligence executives in the case companies that have been conducted during August - October 2008.
The case companies featured in the White Paper are DSM, Pirelli Tyre, and Boehringer Ingelheim. Operating in the car tyre, life and material sciences and pharmaceuticals industries, respectively, all of these companies depend a lot on the quality of their innovation activity and product life-cycle management. Consequently, the related intelligence activities also play a vital role in contributing to the companies’ competitive success.
On top of the interview-based company cases, brief examples are presented on how the corporate world has managed to make use of ideas from nature in their innovation
processes – a discipline called biomimicry.
